Regarding the offer of technical services for evaluating the credibility of developed merchandise, we at JAPAN TESTING LABORATORIES, Inc. recognize that the protection of personal information is an important social responsibility. In order to safeguard personal information - in compliance with laws and regulations connected to personal information - we will construct and apply a management system to implement the following.

  • 1. Our company will obtain, use, and offer personal information only when and where it is necessary for business, and the purpose of use will be made clear. Personal information will not be used other than when necessary, and measures will be taken to prevent unnecessary use.
  • 2. With regard to unauthorized access to and loss, destruction, alteration, or disclosure of personal information, we will devise security measures and introduce necessary resources. We will enforce countermeasures to prevent and correct the disclosure, destruction, or damage of personal information, and continuously work to improve the security of personal information.
  • 3. While complying with the standards established by the law and country with regard to the handling of personal information, we will establish a customer service system to address complaints and provide consultation, corresponding to the rights of the individual.
  • 4. We will continuously work to review and improve our personal information management systems based on the latest IT technology trends.

This plan will be released and made well-known to the whole company, and we will strive to improve the company as a whole. We also plan to educate all of our employees on the matter and promote and increase the overall awareness of the protection of personal information.

Regarding the handling of personal information

Our company has established the following regarding the handling of personal information.

  • Compliance with laws and regulations

    1. With regard to the acquisition, use, and all other handling of personal information, we adhere to laws and ordinances and national standards for the protection of personal information.
  • Specifics and publication of the purpose of use

    2. We will use and publish the personal information of clients we acquire for the following purposes.
    (1) Technical services to evaluate the reliability of inventions.
    Providing information about products and services, receiving various kinds of applications, offering technical services, corresponding to enquiries. (2) Employee management Employee hiring and labor management. In the case where personal information is received directly from the customer, we specify the purpose of use to the customer in advance. Furthermore, with regard to the acquisition of personal information, the customer may give their personal information by way of any number of items, but in the event that the information is insufficient or defective we may not be able to carry out business adequately.
  • Use within the parameters of these purposes

    3. We will only handle the personal information of our customers within the limits necessary for the aforementioned purpose of use. However, in the following cases, corresponding to article 16 section 3 of personal information protection laws, we may handle personal information beyond these necessary limits.
    1. Cases based on laws and ordinances. 2. In the event that it is necessary for the protection of a person’s life, physical health, or property, and there is difficulty obtaining consent. 3. In the event that it is especially necessary for the promotion of the improvement of public health or the healthy development of children, and there is difficulty obtaining consent. 4. In the event that it is necessary for cooperation with a government agency, local public body, or person receiving special consignment to fulfill the duties of their office, and obtaining consent becomes, or is feared to become, an obstacle to the fulfillment of said duties.
  • Safety administration measures

    4. Our company works hard to maintain accurate and updated customer personal information. Additionally, we take appropriate safety measures to to protect from unauthorized access to and falsification, disclosure, destruction, or damage of personal information. As part of our safety administration measures, there are cases where we make use of surveillance cameras when obtaining personal information.
  • Employee supervision

    5. In order to be able to safely manage personal information, we conduct necessary and appropriate supervision of employees. In addition, we also provide the training necessary to ensure suitable handling of personal information.
  • Supervision of subcontractors

    6. We may subcontract handling parts or whole of clients personal information within the range of purposes of use. In that case, we will make sure that the contractor chosen handles personal information appropriately, and we will demand them to handle clients personal information appropriately by stating so in the contract.
  • Shared use

    7. There are cases in which our company, for the purpose of providing a comprehensive service, will share personal information with companies within our group (A-KIT, Inc. / JTL America, Inc. / JTLep, Inc. / MTI.Network, Inc.).
  • Provisions to third-parties

    8. Excluding the cases listed in article 23, section 1 of the personal information protection laws, we do not offer personal information to third parties without the customer’s consent.

In the event that a customer wishes for any of the following we ask that you contact us via the information below: a notice of our purpose of use; disclosure of personal information; the revision of or addition to personal information; cancellation or suspension of use; or the suspension of third-party provisions. On this occasion, upon confirmation of the customer, we will deal with the request promptly and appropriately.

    11. In the event that a customer’s personal information is leaked, the customer will be notified of all facts promptly.
